First Capital Group’s executive team is comprised of seasoned leaders with more than 150 years of combined experience. These directors provide ongoing counsel and oversight for all First Capital Group investments, ensuring high levels of performance are sustained.

Tim J. Mitchell, President & Founder Tim J. Mitchell, President & Founder

Mr. Tim J. Mitchell directs more than $150 million in assets as president and founder of First Capital Group. Throughout more than two decades, he has served as the visionary behind First Capital Group’s unique investment, business and property development model that currently administers more than 40 portfolio companies and one million square feet of real estate. Mr. Mitchell oversees all of First Capital Group’s multi-million dollar new business launches, commercial property development projects, large scale infrastructure deployments, service expansions and complex corporate and real estate acquisitions.

Mr. Mitchell is a serial entrepreneur who leverages more than 25 years of business experience to identify investment opportunities, direct business development initiatives, transform properties and manage corporate operations. Additionally, he lends management support to First Capital Group’s ventures, including recruiting talented executives and advising on business process management, organizational development and technology strategy.

Mr. Mitchell received a Doctor of Law (J.D.) cum laude and Bachelor of Arts degrees with honors in political science and history from Indiana University. He is also a licensed Indiana real estate broker and serves on various boards for organizations that include the United Commerce Bank, Bloomington Economic Development Corporation and Bender Lumber Company, Inc. Mr. John W. Bender utilizes four decades of experience as one of Indiana’s most respected entrepreneurs in his role as chief marketing officer and chairman of First Capital Group. As the founder of several well-known southern Indiana businesses, he has a track record of successfully propelling ventures from concept to commercialization.

In his role with First Capital Group, Mr. Bender leverages his significant entrepreneurial experience to help the firm’s portfolio businesses and commercial properties optimize their marketing, sales and client service processes. He advises the ventures on building distribution networks, sales channels and pricing models; conducts competitive market research; brands and launches new products and services; and coordinates customer service matters such as quality assurance, customer satisfaction and retention.

Mr. Bender was one of the founders of the original Pizza Hut Company. After leaving the business, he became one of its largest franchisees in the Midwest, building a 25-store chain throughout the state of Indiana. He also serves as chairman of Bender Lumber, an eight-store retail building materials chain in south-central Indiana. Mr. Bender is actively involved in regional economic development initiatives and sits on the board of several local companies. Harold A. Harrell, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer Harold A. Harrell, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer

Mr. Harold A. Harrell has served as a trusted business advisor to organizations for more than 50 years. As chief financial officer and treasurer of First Capital Group, he directs the firm’s fiscal assets and plays an integral role in developing its investment strategy and managing its vast operations.

As First Capital Group’s in-house expert on business regulations and industry compliance, Mr. Harrell counsels the firm’s portfolio businesses and commercial properties on setting sound financial strategies and goals ensuring compliant accounting practices; administering fiscal controls; restructuring debt; transferring assets and stock; managing liquidity; evaluating and managing insurance policies; and assessing and mitigating corporate risk.

Mr. Harrell formerly served as a partner in the Bloomington, Indiana law firm of Andrews, Harrell, Mann, Carmin & Parker, where he focused on business and corporate law, estate planning and probate administration. He received his Doctor of Law (J.D.) and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Indiana University. Mr. Harrell is also a certified mediator and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Formerly, he was a member of Old National Bank’s board of directors. Mr. Harrell served as president of the Villages of Indiana, Inc. and president of the Bloomington Advancement Corporation. Randal L. Lloyd, Chief Legal Counsel & Vice President Randal L. Lloyd, Chief Legal Counsel & Vice President

Mr. Randal L. Lloyd brings more than 20 years of executive leadership and economic development expertise in the private industry and government sectors to his role as chief legal counsel and vice president of First Capital Group. As a specialist in both domestic and international business relations, he offers the firm’s 40 portfolio companies and commercial properties expert guidance in areas such as business formation, entity selection, tax strategy, copyrighting and trademarks, regulatory affairs and government relations. Mr. Lloyd also spearheads First Capital Group’s property development initiatives, leading the firm’s acquisition of more than 1 million square feet of real estate across the U.S.

Previously, Mr. Lloyd served as the executive assistant for economic development to the Mayor of Bloomington, Indiana. In this role he served as chief legislative liaison to the state and federal government and was responsible for formulating and implementing city-wide economic policies. Additionally, he held numerous leadership positions with organizations that include the Indiana Business and Modernization Corporation, Indiana’s Small Business Development Center Export Assistance Center, International Trade Facilitation Council, RZR International and Kemper Financial Services.

Mr. Lloyd has served as an adjunct professor at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and School of Public and Environmental Affairs, where he taught undergraduate and MBA courses in international business, negotiations, community development, law and public policy. He also has taught an executive MBA course at the City University of Hong Kong. Mr. Lloyd received both Doctor of Law (J.D.) and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Indiana University. [back to top]
